Description
This plan is written specifically for an athlete doing the Leadville 100 mile trail run race. This is an advanced level plan. Athletes using this plan should have experience with trail marathon, and preferably 50k or 50M distance. Athletes using this plan may be targeting a finish for completion vs a finish for time. Athletes will start this plan with a 10 mile long run. Athletes training with this plan should use trails as much as possible. For days with high elevation gain, the athlete may use a treadmill in the absence of hilly terrain.
Nicknamed the Race Across the Sky, this is a high altitude mountain indulgence. Runners will start at 10,100 ft in elevation and top out at 12,508ft on Hope Pass twice. Along the way, runners should expect to encounter sun exposure, heat, rain, thunderstorms, and the effects of altitude. This race will not only test endurance, but the human spirit. This plan will expose an athlete to training days of 28 miles of running and approximately 4,500ft of climbing, and integrates night runs.
This plan allows for an optional tune-up race in week 17 and an alternate three weeks of training in this event.
A portion of every training plan sold goes to help build trails and the communities around them. Find out more about how we give back.
I got this for Leadville 2021. They’re really responsive to questions and I dig the training so far. Just hoping the race stays on!
Thanks! Good luck, and see you out there!
